Unique Concession Food Ideas
Over the last few years, concession stands have gotten creative with their menu items. After taking the risks, the benefits are paying off as customers show their willingness to wait in line for these unusual treats.
As if bacon wasn’t good enough, a fair vendor in Texas tried his luck at making chicken-fried bacon. His recipe, which involves battering bacon, as you would to prepare fried chicken, won Best Taste at Big Tex Choice Awards.
Leave it to California to find a way to serve avocados in a unique way: fried. To create this snack, large chunks of avocados are rolled in corndog batter and fried, and are served with ranch dip or herb-infused oil.
Instead of an ice cream cone, how about a pizza cone? Pizza crust is formed into a cone, and filled with your favorite pizza toppings, such as cheese, pepperoni, sausage, and tomato sauce. It’s delicious and easy to carry.
While you’ve probably heard of fried Twinkies, Oreos, and even fried butter, but what about fried Coca-Cola? This creative treat involves Coca-Cola-flavored batter, that’s fried and drizzled with Coca-Cola syrup. A similar treat showed up in Texas—fried beer—ravioli made of pretzel dough, filled with beer, fried, and topped with nacho cheese.
Instead of getting a loaded baked potato, why not enjoy a loaded baked sweet potato? It’s known as “The Sweetie” and it’s topped with whipped cream, cinnamon, brown sugar, and other toppings of your choice.
If you’re afraid to try something totally new, stick to the good ole peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Many carnivals and fairs are selling this classic on a stick after it’s been deep-fried, and dusted with powdered sugar, of course.
Thinking of trying something new at your concession stand? No matter how different or unique it is, it just might end up in your favor.
