Gold Medal Products Co. Celebrates 95 Years of Innovation, Family, and Fun Food
Gold Medal Products Co., the global leader in concession equipment and supplies, is proud to announce the celebration of its 95th anniversary. Marking nearly a century of innovation, leadership, and an unwavering commitment to creating memorable fun food experiences, this milestone is a testimony to the entrepreneurial spirit.
Founded in 1931 during the height of the Great Depression, Gold Medal began when founder David C. Evans borrowed $2,000 against his home to purchase a small company called Kings Ink. What started with a simple drink concentrate has evolved into an internationally recognized manufacturer with more than 500 employees, 19 branch locations across the United States, and a worldwide distributor network. After more than nine decades, the company’s commitment to creating products that combine quality, innovation, and profitability remains strong.
“It’s humbling to consider what my grandfather built,” stated third-generation owner and company Chairman, Dave Evans. “This company has survived floods, wars, recessions, and a pandemic. Through it all, the people have remained the heart of the business. Thank you to everyone who has shown up, believed in what we were doing, and poured themselves into making this something special. That’s the legacy we carry with us every single day.”
From pioneering the classic filigree-style popcorn cart design to patenting the first machine-made cotton candy paper cone and introducing the iconic Sno-Kone® brand, Gold Medal has enjoyed many groundbreaking successes throughout its history. That same innovation continues to power the company today. Recent advancements include a state-of-the-art 42,000-square-foot ready-to-eat popcorn manufacturing facility, the integration of touch-screen technology into the company’s large commercial popcorn machine line, and the continued growth of its self-serve popcorn dispensers, the Ready Series.
President of Gold Medal, Adam Browning shared his perspective on this landmark occasion, “I am deeply grateful for the foundation that generations of the Evans family and the Gold Medal team have built. Carrying forward such a heritage means we will continue investing in new technology, expanding what we offer our partners, and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in this industry. The next chapter of Gold Medal is being written now and we’re ready to make the future unforgettable.”
Ninety-five years after David C. Evans took a chance on a $2,000 dream, Gold Medal Products Co. stands as a success story of an enduring family business that’s never lost sight of what matters most. As the company moves toward its centennial and beyond, Gold Medal, The Fun Food Authority™ is certain to continue its well-deserved reputation as the industry leader.
