Trail Mix Popcorn

 

Now all your favorite snacking items in one mix! Trail Mix Popcorn satisfies anyone’s craving. It’s easy to make with Gold Medal’s corn treat concentrate mix. With just a few ingredients you can offer this fun treat.

Ingredients

  • 5 Gallons of popped mushroom style popcorn 
  • 1 package of  #2096 Basic Corn Treat Mix
  • 12 oz. water
  • 4 cups sugar (white, brown, or combination)
  • #2250 Free ‘N Easy
  • 4 oz. of yellow coconut oil
  • 1 stick of butter
  • 22.8 oz. candy coated chocolate pieces
  • 2oz dried cranberries or raisins
  • 2 oz. chopped macadamia nuts
  • 12 oz. dried banana chips
  • 1/2 cup roasted salted almonds
  • 1 oz. shredded coconut
  • 1/4 cup honey

Directions

  • Take lid off Mark 5 cooker mixer 
  • Add the following directly to the cooker mixer
    • 1 package of  #2096 Basic Corn Treat Mix
    • 12 oz. Water
    • 4 Cups Sugar (white, brown, or combination)
    • 4 oz. of oil
  • Turn on heat/motor switch on
  • Place the lid back on the cooker mixer
  • When you see steam coming out of the lid (approx. 8 minutes into cooking process), remove the lid
  • When buzzer sounds, letting you know the mix is up to temperature, turn heat/motor switch OFF
  • Turn motor switch ON
  • Add in butter and honey
  • Let ingredients mix until everything is incorporated
  • Add the 5 gallons of popped popcorn to the cooker mixer
  • Tilt Cooker to 2nd position (tumble position) to let popcorn mix
  • Spray 10 squirts of #2250Qt Free ‘N Easy into the kettle (this will help the corn from sticking to itself)
  • Let popcorn mix for 1 minute inside cooker mixer, or until completed coated
  • Dump popcorn into cooling tray
  • Add in nuts, banana chips, coconut and cranberries
  • Cool popcorn for 10 minutes by stirring and separating popcorn constantly
  • Allow everything to cool before adding in candy coated chocolate pieces to avoid melting of the candy
  • Bag or store popcorn
